Quilter’s Compass Retail Store is located in the main shopping district of historic Monticello, WI. QC provides high quality quilting materials through both retail and Internet shops to individual quilter clients. QC also provides professional services including: · Expert guidance for clients in choosing fabrics, batting, thread, notions, books, magazines, patterns, quilt kits, and other related materials · Professional longarm quilting to produce beautifully finished client projects QC delivers this expert guidance through: · Formal classroom instruction · Informal discussions with clients during retail purchases · “How To” articles and other website information · A wide selection of books, magazines, pre-packaged quilt instructions and kits All of these products and services are integrated to provide a one-stop complete quilting experience for clients visiting the retail store. This one-stop approach is also integral in the design of QC’s website. About QC’s Owner Barbara Hartman began needlework at the age of five and learned to sew at age ten. She sewed most of her personal wardrobe throughout high school and college. Attention to detail is a hallmark of her work. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she majored in Home Economics concentrating on Textiles and Design, and Education. She has worked in alterations (women’s and bridal) for five years and has operated a custom special occasion bridal design business. She has also managed a large quilt shop in Ohio. In 2007, she earned her MBA from the University of Dayton. Barb began quilting in 1982 and received an award on the very first quilt she created. She began longarm quilting in 2008. Barb holds active memberships in: · The International Machine Quilters Association, Inc. – (IMQA) · The International Association of Professional Quilters – (IAPQ) · The American Quilter’s Society – (AQS) · The Fabric Shop Network – (FabShopNet) |
Recreation
There are so many recreational activities in Green County that it’s hard to keep track. Are you a bicyclist? Well, have we got trails for you! The Badger State Trail starts in Madison with a connection to the Capital City Trail and continues to the Illinois border where it connects with the Jane Addams trail and continues to Freeport, Illinois.
The Sugar River State Recreational Trail runs 23 miles through Broadhead, Albany, Monticello and New Glarus. It was one of the first rails-to- trails conversions in Wisconsin.
